Women’s Bean Project – Review and Giveaway

It seems like every time I turn around, I hear about more people who have lost their jobs, their homes, their whatever….  There’s really no denying it, times right now are tough on a lot of people.  Jobs are hard to find and even harder to keep.  The Women’s Bean Project is an unbelievable organization that is working to make life easier during these difficult times.  Founded in 1989, the Women’s Bean Project is dedicated to helping women break the cycle of poverty by providing them with transitional jobs in gourmet food manufacturing designed to provide immediate income, arrange support services to overcome barriers to employment, and teach the job readiness skills needed to get and keep a job.  They support themselves through the generosity of donors, and by the sale of their beautiful handmade jewelry, gift baskets, and gourmet food products.

I received an awesome Sugar and Spice Gift Basket to review, and my whole family loves it! The basket came complete with Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, Grammy’s Snickerdoodle Cookie Mix, Cindy’s Sinfully Chocolate Brownie Mix, a bag of Assorted Jellybeans, Raspberry Lemongrass Iced Tea Mix, and Mango Peach Iced Tea Mix. So far we’ve tried out the Sinfully Chocolate Brownie Mix (which was unbelievably good), the jellybeans, and both iced-tea mixes – and everything has been amazing. The brownie mix was so easy to make even I couldn’t mess it up (which is really saying something). I wanted to take a picture of the brownies I made to show you all, but my kids and husband ate the batch in literally 10 minutes so I didn’t have a chance! The ice tea mixes are unique and refreshing, and (of course) super easy to make. Basically, everything in the basket has been amazing.

Beyond that, I am really in love with the mission of the Women’s Bean Project. It is so important to find ways to give back to the world and to help people less fortunate than ourselves. The Women’s Bean Project makes it easy, enjoyable, and delicious to do just that, you can’t really find anything better!

I am in the process of trying to start a humane society chapter to help save soooo many homeless animals in a town where I work. It's horrible. I am doing everything in my power to save those poor animals. I even carry dog food and water around in my car. I am also bringing two of them home with me tomorrow. The people moved and tore down the trailer they were living in and left two puppies behind. Terrible.
